Howard George Knoerr

Mr. Knoerr, 81 went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, June 15, 2018. He was born April 20, 1937 in Saginaw. Howard graduated from T.L. Handy High School and later went on to serve his country in the National Guard. He retired from General Motors, as a tool and die maker after 39 years of service. Howard was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, FL prior to moving back to Michigan in 2012. He was also a long time former member of St. John Lutheran Church of Amelith where he and wife, Marie, raised their three children. He enjoyed water front living at Houghton Lake and Pine Island, FL. Activities he enjoyed included spending time with family and friends, and in the past, hunting, fishing, card playing, camping, and bowling.
Left behind to cherish Howard's memories are his children: Rod and Beth Knoerr of Marshall, MI, Vicki and Scott LeVasseur of Sanford, MI and daughter-in-law Sherry Knoerr of Arizona, eight grandchildren: Rod II (Danielle), Kari (Zach), Kristi (Jon), Reid (Alex) Christian (Emily), Janaye (Mike), Nick (Kayleigh), Kaylee (Josh), 12 great grandchildren: Calvin, Lexi, Caleb, Kaden, Charleigh, Liam, Kallie, Lincoln, Landry, Hank, Kamryn, Mack, sister Janet (Jerry), brother Larry (Margie), Eugene (Bonnie), Harvey, brother-in-law Erv, sister-in-law Clara, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his treasured wife of 55 years Marie, dear son Todd, and one sister Elvira,
The family would like to sincerely thank Heartland Hospice staff and the entire Olson Manor team for their love and compassionate care during the past 8 months. Also Story Pointe-Independence Village for the care they gave.
Mr. Knoerr's family will receive friends and family from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Gephart Funeral Home, 201 West Midland Street, Bay City. All are invited to attend a Celebration of New Life sharing service at 7:00 p.m. following visitation. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Romania Medical Dental Mission (Checks made out to New Hope Baptist Church) or The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
