Irene passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living at the age of 97 years. She was born in Bay City on April 7, 1925 to the late William and Laura (Begick) Ittner. Irene married Marvin Neumeyer on July 10, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2012 after 64 years of marriage. Irene was a dedicated member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was part of the Friendship Circle, and the choir for 53 years. Irene was also a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Bay Chorale. She was also a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Economy Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, her rose gardens, music, singing and reading. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Irene is survived by her children, Sandra Foley, Timothy (Debra) Neumeyer and Daniel (Patricia) Neumeyer; daughter-in-law, Deborah Neumeyer; grandchildren, Zachary Neumeyer, Christopher (Elle) Neumeyer, Kristina (Jason) Diaz, Kimberly (Tyler) Young, Rachel (Sam) Morgan and Caleb Neumeyer; great grandchildren, Xander Diaz, Liam Neumeyer and Olivia Morgan and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, William Neumeyer; son-in-law, Thomas Foley; brother, William Ittner and sisters, Marie Wegener and Luella Ittner.
Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis W. Matyas with interment following in the church cemetery. Friends and family may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Neumeyer will be taken to the church to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran School hot lunch program or Cardinal Hospice.
