Irene B. Owczarzak

Irene passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in NC at the age of 97. She was born on March 15, 1924 in Bay City, to the late Anthony and Frances (Dodick) Harvatin. Irene was retired from the Bay City Times and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Altar Society. She was a very avid reader and loved playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
Irene is survived by her children Kathy (Dan) Asch and Michael Owczarzak (fiancé, Dawn Sulkowski); grandchildren, Stephanie (Daniel) Owczarzak, Nate (Teresa) Asch and Madden Owczarzak; great grandchildren, Jillian, Jacob, Danny and Andy; sister-in-laws, Loretta Kozuch and Lucille Bernard and brother-in-law, Stanley Leff. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marion "Mike" Owczarzak; great grandchild, Zachary Owczarzak; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peter and Gladys Owczarzak; brothers, John (Anne) Volk, Joe (Angie) Volk and Jim Harvatin; sisters, Virginia (Frank) Lupo and Olga Volk; brothers-in-law, Bob Bernard, Tom Petcher, John Kozuch and Walt (Dorothy) Owczarzak; sisters-in-law, Sr. Euphrasia, Joan Petcher and Frances Leff.
Funeral Mass will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Parish on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. James Bessert. The family will be present to receive visitors at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Parish, the Pipe Organ Fund or the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
