James L. Ashmore Jr.

Ashmore, James L. Jr. Essexville, Michigan Mr. Ashmore passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his residence. Age 50 years. James was born October 20, 1963 in Portsmouth, VA. James enjoyed painting ceramics, playing softball and hanging out with his grandson. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Tigers and U of M Fan. Mr. Ashmore is survived by his wife, the former Joan M. Zolinski whom he married June 23, 1993; mother, Linda Mellendorf; father, James Ashmore, Sr.; two daughters, Marcie Burns and Candi Bell; his special grandson, Nathan Burns and three other grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Edward (Kim) Ashmore, Lt. Col. William (Demra) Ashmore, Shirley Ashmore (Brian Duffy) and Fronda (Tim) Pattengill and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his step mother, Cheryl Ashmore and two nephews Jonas Ashmore and Justin Ashmore. Funeral and Committal services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson with private interment in Grant Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
