James Edward Bollman, age 63, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bay City, Michigan, on December 15, 1961, to Rex and Maureen Bollman.
Growing up as one of nine children, Jim’s childhood was full of noise, laughter, and the kind of stories that only a big family can create. He loved sharing tales of family vacations—equal parts adventure and misadventure—and his retellings never failed to make others smile.
Jim was a man of many passions and simple joys. He loved quiet mornings spent fishing, music playing in the background, lively debates about politics, and the satisfaction of anything neatly organized—especially if it involved a spreadsheet. He cherished road trips, time with friends and family, and the comfort of cuddling with the dogs. One of the great traditions of his life was the annual poker game with his T.L. Handy High School buddies, a gathering he attended for 46 consecutive years. Even just days before his passing, he was still convinced he’d find a way to make it to the table.
He is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Grace; his children, Justin and Nick; and his siblings, Jo Ellen (Victor) Kolka, John (Mary), Aaron (Tina), Juliann (Rod) Reynolds, Daniel, and Brigid (Ken) Weichec. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Sue (late brother, Michael) and Wendy (late brother, Dennis) and by many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Rex C. Bollman and Maureen E. Bollman (Redmond), and his brothers Michael and Dennis.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on December 19, 2025, at Gephart Funeral Home, 201 W. Midland St., Bay City, MI 48706. Visitation will take place beforehand from 3:00–5:00 p.m.
In honor of Jim’s favorite movie, “Christmas Vacation”, the family would like you to wear your favorite ugly Christmas sweater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bay County Animal Services, 800 Livingston St., Bay City, MI 48708, in honor of a childhood experience Jim had with this place.
