James J. Hayes IV

James passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 66 with his family by his side. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on January 19, 1955 to the late James III and Corinne (VonMach) Hayes. He enjoyed golfing, going out to eat, traveling, especially to Traverse City, he is an avid Detroit sports fan, a Notre Dame and Michigan State fan. Jim knew that he wanted to become an attorney at a young age, so he put all of his focus in achieving that goal. He graduated from Detroit Mercy Law in 1980. James loved helping people and his profession as an attorney gave him the ability to help many in the community. James loved spending time with his love, Justine and all their adventures, his children, grandchildren, his family, friends and with his dog Colt. Anyone can attest to James' kindness and heart of gold. He will be dearly missed by all.

James is survived by his partner, Justine Munch; mother of his daughters, Kimberly Hayes; daughters, Kaitlan (Kevin) O'Grady and Fallon (Dan Bergstrom) Hayes; grandchildren, Connor and Bennett O'Grady; siblings, Kathleen Gamboa, Jeffrey Hayes, John Hayes, Kelly (Maureen) Hayes, Hayes, Louis (Judy) Hayes and Ani (Eric Ginac); he is loved by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Hayes.

The family would like to thank all of the care that the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at McLaren Bay Region gave to James and his family.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary's with committal following in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Friday, November 12, 2021 at Gephart Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
