James "Jim" Amie LeMere Sr.

Jim was called home to eternal life on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Bayfield Assisted Living at the age of 86. He was born to the late Edward and Helen (Rase) LeMere on October 29, 1939. He was a member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church and recently became Catholic last year. He enjoyed working for the Church and helping with the dinners. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he was responsible for special equipment during his time in the service. He loved watching all Detroit sports and played blooper ball for many years.

Jim loved spending time outdoors, whether he was watching wildlife, camping, bear and deer hunting, fishing, or simply chopping wood, he found great enjoyment in being outdoors. In his earlier years, he was raised on a cattle farm and later had a produce farm of his own. He enjoyed traveling and taking family trips, creating many wonderful memories along the way. His travels included trips to Hawaii and Alaska, as well as five cruises. However, his favorite trip of all was his honeymoon with his beloved wife, Mary Ann, to Glacier National Park. One of Jim and Mary Ann’s cherished memories together was participating in the annual Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk. It was a tradition they enjoyed sharing together each year.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Ann (Williams) LeMere; children, David (Jeanne) LeMere and Mary Helen LeMere; son-in-law, Samuel (Lindsey) Brooks; grandchildren, Tyler LeMere (fiancé Jasmine), Raymond Brooks (fiancé Kylie), Helen (Ziad) Brooks, Benjamin Brooks, Samantha Brooks (Fiancé Tegan), Luke LeMere and Eddie LeMere; great granddaughters, Allison LeMere and Scarlett Rhodes; adopted daughter, Laurie LaBean; sisters, Joyce Summers, Susan Rozek and Sherry (Dennis) Sauer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Nancy Brooks and James LeMere Jr.; sister, Janet (Jack) Lelo and brother-in-law’s, George Summers and Ronald Rozek.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Bayfield Assisted Living, Heartland Hospice and Cornerstone Caregiving, for all their kindness and compassion throughout this difficult time.

Funeral Liturgy for Jim will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Byzantine Church with burial and Military Honors to follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery.
