James W. Obermiller

Jim passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 89. He was born on April 6, 1936 in Bay City to the late Frederick and Helen (Lesser) Obermiller. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming his entire life and retired from General Motors as a machine operator. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Monitor Twp Fire Department and was very proud of that. He enjoyed camping, playing horseshoes and making his own wine.

Jim is survived by his brother, Thomas (Diane) Obermiller; sister, Marlene (Paul) Chris; sister-in-law’s, Ruth Obermiller and Marilyn Obermiller and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Obermiller;  brothers, Arlin (Arlene) Obermiller, Gerald Obermiller and Robert Obermiller and sisters, Betty (Peter) Hennard, Shirley (Ralph) Bernreuter, Joyce (Waldo) Mossner and Joanne (Leonard) Jeske.

Funeral service for Jim will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present to receive visitors at the Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to Camp Fishtails.
