James T. Payne Sr.

James passed away, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 85. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on March 20, 1938 to the late Joseph and Helen Payne. James enjoyed gardening, watching wrestling, working on his cars and spending time with his family and dogs.

James is survived by his children, Jody (Dave), Debbie (Randy), Jimmy and David; grandson, Mike; sister, Helen (Barry) Doran; special friends, Char and Al Burke and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife Esther whom he was united in marriage on June, 30, 1956; grandson, Anthony; son-in-law, Don; sisters, Maryann and Nancy; brothers, Joe and John.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to special caregiver, Matt for the excellent care he provided James.

Funeral Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Apostille Jeff Englehart with private burial taking place at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to wishes of the family.
