James Lloyd Peplinski

Jim passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 13, 2022 at the age of 86.
He was born to Lloyd and Nellie Peplinski on October 31, 1935 in Alpena, Michigan. He was married to the true love of his life - Lorraine Walters - in 1956. She recently preceded him in death, and they are now reunited in the presence of our Lord.
Jim had a very active life and was probably best known for his sense of humor and huge commitment and loyalty to family and friends.
Married to the love of his life, his "Sweetheart," they enjoyed creating memories with their loved ones. They hosted many holidays, horseshoe club, and card club nights. Jim enjoyed attending breakfast club at Krysiak's, morning gatherings with his friends, and especially sharing laughs with his family.
His work accomplishments were numerous and included being Vice President at Gregory Construction company, original and long-time building inspector and zoning inspector for Portsmouth Township for 54 years and building inspector for Merritt township.
Jim was a Registered Building Code Official, Administrator and Plan Reviewer for the Bureau of Construction Codes for the State of Michigan for over 35 years.  He served on the ISD Career Center Building Trades Board and was a member of the Bay City Construction Code Board of Appeals, Fire Code Board of Appeals and Zoning Code Board of Appeals.
Recently he was a member of the Board of Directors at Jolt Credit Union.
Jim was just as active socially being a member of the Knights of Columbus 4103, Lions Club, St. George Society, and served as President of All Saints Athletic Club.
A long-time member of St Hyacinth parish, he was a member of the Financial Committee, Ushers Club, and Athletic Club.
Jim is a Veteran - serving 6 years in the Navy.
He was huge on spending time with family and friends.  He was a major Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Piston's fan.  He also followed the Wolverines and Spartans.  In his younger years he was an avid runner participating in numerous St Patrick's Day and St. Stan's runs among others.
He enjoyed spoiling the grandchildren and great grandchildren. The great grandkids could always expect a token from him. Rather it be five bucks, a hot wheels car, or their choice of candy.
Jim is survived by daughter Michelle Brennan, son Michael Peplinski, grandchildren Kellie (Robbie) Rankey, Shae Brennan, Ryan (Erin), Natalie Guididas and her fiancée, Brad Bohlinger, Jimmy, Michael, Jenna Peplinski, great grandchildren Harper, Hudson, Emma, Rylee, Blaize, Rory and Landon, brother Ken, sister Pat Cathcart, and in-law's Pat Dauer, Carol (Dave) Peters and Shirley Wilson.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife Lorraine, he was also preceded in death by his brothers in-law Mike Cathcart, Mike Wilson, and Bob Dauer, sister Marlene, sister in-law Sandy Peplinski, son in-law Pat Brennan, nephews Michael and Eddie Cathcart, and his niece Jeanne Cathcart.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to McLaren Hospice, especially Michelle and Ben for their compassion and care.
