James Ellis Teman

James Ellis Teman, son of Cornelius and Ida Teman was born and raised in Jackson, Michigan.  He went to Jackson High School, and served four and a half years in the U.S. Navy.  James married the love of his life, Mildred Ellen Sturm, and they enjoyed 68 years together, including 18 winters in Florida.  James was a member of the Jackson Arbor Grove Congregational Church for many years.

James spent 40 years working on the Rail Road and loved every minute of it.  He was proud of his 1996 Buick and 1984 Oldsmobile both of which, he kept in show condition.  It pleased him to have lived long enough to see both of these vehicles acquire Michigan's Historical Car status.  James was an avid hunter and loved to hunt in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and on his in-laws West Virginia property.

In 2014 James and "Milly" moved to Kawkawlin, Michigan to be closer to their youngest daughter, Brenda, who faithfully over saw their care.  James bravely fought Parkinson's Disease for more than 10 years before he died at home from complications related to Parkinson's.  He was 93, only a few weeks away from 94.

James is survived by two daughters, Kathy T. Henderson (Tom) of Shelburne, Vt, Brenda Zehr (Bryan) Kawkawlin, Mi, and 4 grand children, 7 great grand children, and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by Mildred in 2018 and a grand daughter in 2001, as well as by his brother, Richard Teman, and two sisters, Virginia Teman and Elizabeth Azimat Mohr.

James was a very kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.  His and Mildred's ashes will be buried together, as James wished, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Jackson Michigan.
