Janet A. Smith

Janet passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Autumn Ridge Gardens AFC at the age of 82. She was born on June 4, 1943 in Bay City to the late Theodore and Irma (Sturm) Weiss. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Monitor, she was baptized, confirmed and married the love of her life there. She enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband, Ron, they have visited so many different states together. She was a school bus driver for the Bay City Public Schools for 20 years.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronald Smith, whom she married on June 4, 1966. She is also survived by her brother, Lester (Cheryl) Weiss; sister, Shirley Barber; nephews, Donnie and L.T.; niece, Maria and several cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Howard and Ruth Smith.

Funeral Service for Janet will be taking place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Monitor with interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Seth Kaiser. The family will be present to receive visitors at Gephart Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Janet’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church or School.
