Jerry W. Bennett

Jerry passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 75. He was born on October 5, 1946 to the late James and Clara (Edmonds) Bennett in Bentley, Michigan. Jerry loved tinkering in his garage and fixing things for his neighbors. If things needed to be fixed, he would find some way to "Jerry-rig" it. He enjoyed going for long drives in the car and the outdoors. He loved the beauty of the snow but did not like the cold weather. Jerry never had anything negative to say and always knew so much about so many different things. He also loved cooking and John Deere tractors. His grandchildren were everything to him, he loved them dearly. He was a best friend to so many people and touched many with his kind heart. He was the most selfless person. Jerry was a true people person and absolutely loved spending time with his family. He will truly be infinitely missed by his friends and family.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Lynn (Scaggs) Bennett, whom he married on April 7, 1973. He always knew how to make her feel loved. He is also survived by his children, Kelly (Ken) Taylor, Jamie Carnley, Paul Bennett and his significant other Lauren Turrell, and Jeremy Bennett; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Trevor, Connor, Paul Jr., Nolan, Caden, Layla, Sam, Ben, Gaige, Tyler, Emily, Gracie, Jessica and Zack; sister, Deborah (Rob) Hundley; brother, Larry Bennett; sister-in-law, Deborah (Charlie) Ellsworth; step-mother-in-law, Betty Scaggs and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Joyce Scaggs and father-in-law, Paul Scaggs; brothers, Ron Bennett and Gary Bennett and sister-in-law, Peggy Bennett.
The family will be present to receive visitors at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Due to COVID, there will be no dinner taking place at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wishes of the Family.
