Joan entered life on earth January 12, 1943, the daughter of the late Roy J. and Cecilia (Zajac) Young. She passed away quietly in her sleep on February 13, 2023, after many years of battling dementia and it’s associate medical challenges.
Joan’s children and grandchildren were the focus of her life, always ready to help but not in an obtrusive way. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling, playing euchre and dominoes. Joan relaxed with an occasional knitting project, and she was always part way into a good novel. Joan loved to grow her own tomatoes and was thrilled to eat them fresh off the vine just outside her door.
Joan is survived by her husband, Tom; her son, Troy (Dianne) Auman of Bay City, Michigan; daughters, Dr. Heidi J. Auman (James Lloyd) of Fern Tree, Tasmania, Australia and Heather L. Auman of Lexington, Kentucky; step-daughter, Kristin M. Miller of Dothan, Alabama; grandsons, Jacob R. Auman and Joshua M. Auman; sisters, Kathy (Kate) Dubin of Ithaca, New York and Maryann (Jerry) Grembowski of Milford, Michigan and brother, John (Anna) Young of Bay City, Michigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dr. Donna Young Muirhead and Jane Cecile Young; brother, Ronald James Young and the father of her children, Terry M. Auman.
Joan’s family would like to acknowledge the caring professionalism of the Ladies of McLaren Hospice. Their dedication and attention is greatly appreciated.
As she wished, cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will take place at Corpus Christi Parish (Holy Trinity Church) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Rev. Fr. Bert Gohm will be the celebrant. Family and friends will gather at the church before the service starting at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if anyone wishes to make a donation, they are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Corpus Christi Parish and/or a charity of their own choice. Arrangements by Gephart Funeral Home.
