JoAnn M. Szafranski

Mrs. Szafranski passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Brian's House, at the age of 91. The daughter of the late Ignatius and Catherine (Ruszkowski) Stajkowski was born June 2, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. Mrs. Szafranski was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish. She enjoyed dancing, puzzle making, crafts, traveling, reading and animals.

Mrs. Szafranski is survived by her son, Roger A. (Christine M.) Szafranski; one sister, Nancy (Ray) Lesniak; sister-in-law, Virginia Stajkowski and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Szafranski; two babies, Gary Lee and Gerard Michael; two brothers, Bob and Floyd Stajowski; one sister, Eleanor (James) Wajkowiak.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Sheffield Bay Assisted Living, Dr. David Jordahl at Mid-Michigan Health Park, Covenant Health Care and Brian's House for their compassion and care.

The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 15, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. John S. Sarge with Rite of Committal following in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place on Sunday at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Szafranski will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial cards for the Humane Society of Bay County will be available at the funeral home.
