John J. "Jack" Walin

John J. "Jack" Walin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at Bayfield Assisted Living, with his family by his side. He was born on November 8, 1931, in Westfield, Massachusetts, to George and Ethel (Beatty) Walin, who predeceased him.

Jack led a life full of adventure and laughter, known for his great sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. His proud service in the United States Airforce for four years was a testament to his character and dedication.

Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected his love for the outdoors and spending quality time with his family. He found pleasure in fishing, boating, skiing, traveling, golfing, and bowling. Each activity was not just a pastime but an opportunity to create lasting memories with his loved ones.

Jack shared a remarkable bond with his beloved wife of 64 years, Sally Walin, who preceded him in death.

Jack is survived by his devoted children, Mike (Donna) Walin, Cindy (Gale) Hammerbacher, and Gretchen (Dan) Meeker. Jack was a proud grandfather to Bridgette (Jeff) Schuch, John Walin, Stefanie (Paul) Parker, Sheri (Ty) Streeting, Jeffrey Meeker, Scott (Erin) Meeker, Danna (Brent) Ferris, Jack Meeker, Annie Meeker, Anthony (Jackie) Garcia, Krista (Brian) Haapala, and Trisha (David) Gielda. He also leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Staff at Bayfield Assisted Living for the care they provided Jack.

At the request of Jack, Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to Bayfield Assisted Living Alzheimer's and Dementia Team.
