Mr. Weiss passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at Brian's House. Age 59 years. The son of the late Alfred and Virginia (Dault) Weiss. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, retired from GM Powertrain and was employed at Weiss Family Fruit Market. John graduated in 1968 from T.L. Handy High School, he was a member of the American Legion Post 18, he enjoyed golfing and played softball for over twenty years. On May 9, 1970 he married the former Vana R. Parker and she survives his passing along with three children; Shawn (Crystal) Weiss, Joel (Laurie) Weiss and Kim Weiss, three grandchildren; Brooke, Katelyn and Danielle, his brothers, and sisters; Brenda Snyder, Stephen Weiss, Randy (Karen) Weiss, Virginia (Don) Brissette and Vivian Cosens, his nieces and nephews; Kristi (Matt), Steven (Kristi), Michelle (Shawn), Janet, Alan, Ron, Randy (Peggy), Robbie, Rochelle, Kyle, sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Lora (Kevin) Lisk. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Ray and Lila Parker, two brothers; Alfred G. Weiss Jr. and Robert Weiss and one brother-in-law; Dene Parker. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Campau, Dr. Cook, the staff at Brian's House and Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan and Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided for John during his illness. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Monday, June 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church 4267 S. Two Mile Rd.. Officiating will be Rev. Carol M. Blair-Bouse. At the request of John following the services cremation will take place and Inurnment will take place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Weiss will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for McLaren Visiting Nurse Services and Hospice or Brian's House will be available at the funeral home.
