Jon passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 6, 2026 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 69. He was born to the late William and Lorna (Appold) Ittner on February 21, 1957 in Bay City. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. He enjoyed playing games, especially blackjack with his best friend, Ralph. He was quite the storyteller and loved visiting with people. When he wasn’t visiting with others, you could find him watching or talking about one of his favorite shows - Survivor, Big Brother, I love Lucy or Days of our Lives. Although Jon had his own struggles, he never complained and was always concerned about others.
Jon is survived by his siblings, Cynthia (Robert) Eastman, David (Sherry) Ittner and Lynn (Larry) Strawn and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Ralph Yates who traveled miles and visited weekly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his close friend, Tom Guenin.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the St. Paul ladies who visited him weekly, Darlene Zeilinger, Bonnie List, Janet Beckers, Jamie Zeilinger, Kris Fisher and Lisa Goss. He really enjoyed your visits. They would also like to say thank you to the staff at Bay County Medical Care Facility, especially Rosa, Mike, Eric, Kevin and Kendra. They gave him excellent care and became like family to him.
Funeral Service for Jon will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust with interment to follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will be present to receive visitors at the Church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Jon’s name to the St. Paul Ministry Center.
