Mrs. Phelps passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper at the age of 85. The daughter of the late Joseph and Lillie (Bristol) Sova was born August 24, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan. Mrs. Phelps was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and she enjoyed swimming at Delta, knitting, cooking, going to the casino and watching old movies, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by her son, Michael (Diane) Phelps; daughter, Jamie (Philip) Myers; two daughters-in-law, Joanne Phelps and Susan Townsend; nine grandchildren, Stacey (Clayton) Osborn, Casey (Heather) Phelps, Ashley (Brandon) Dolney, Katie Phelps, Noelle Conley, Matthew Myers, Adam (Sheila) Like, Alison Phelps and Trevor Phelps; ten great grandchildren; good friends, Robert and Georgia Field and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger M. Phelps Sr., whom she married on April 5, 1952 at Visitation Catholic Church; two sons, Roger M. Phelps Jr. and Jay Scott Phelps and her brother, Ronald D. Sova.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Corpus Christi Parish. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Kelm with Rite of Committal following in Floral Gardens Cemetery Gardens. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. the Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Phelps will be taken to the church to lie in state on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 25 visitors in the chapel at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects, face coverings must be worn. Contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
