Junior passed away comfortably at the age of 89 on Wednesday July 20, 2022 at the New Hope Valley Assisted Living Facility in Saginaw where he resided for just a few days short of one year. He was born in Bay City, Michigan to the late Oscar and Sophie (Roth) Lutz on June 9, 1933 and was a lifelong member of the area. Being the oldest of 9 children, Junior had a strong work ethic and strived to be a provider while growing up and working on the small family farm as a young man. These traits carried with him all through his working years as a heavy truck and equipment mechanic.  Junior was a military veteran and served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955.   He enjoyed a simple life with his wife Betty and children, taking small vacations to the cabin up north or other locations in Michigan, once retired he took opportunities with Betty to experience the many activities and sporting events of grandchildren. His faith in the Lord remained strong throughout his entire life as a member of St John Lutheran Church of Amelith where he was baptized and confirmed in faith.
Junior married Betty (Wiesenauer) on May 5, 1962 and for over 59 years they were never apart, she predeceased him on Nov 18, 2021. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jim) Brownlee; son, Glenn (Ann) Lutz; grandchildren, James "LJ" (Taylor) Brownlee, Trista (TJ) Hilgendorf, Claire Brownlee, Wayne Schwind and Rachel (David) Lawler; brothers Delmar and Benny; sisters, Lou Ann (Rich) Feinauer and Mary (Allen) Revord, sister-in-law Edna Kennedy, and brother-in-law Art Pfund, along with many beloved nieces and nephews on both the Lutz side of his family and the Wiesenauer side of wife Betty's family. In addition to his parents, Junior is predeceased by sister and husband Vernetta and Howard Weiss, young sister Doraine Lutz, sister-in-law Barb (Delmar) Lutz, brother and wife Gerald & Mary Jo Lutz and brother Elden Lutz.  Junior is also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn Lutz.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Monday, July 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Amelith (1664 Amelith Road, Bay City, MI 48706). Officiating will be Pastor Kurt Eichinger with interment to follow at St. John Lutheran Church of Amelith Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. (201 West Midland Street, Bay City, Michigan 48706) on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to receive visitors.  Junior will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions in memory of Junior may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Amelith or the New Hope Valley Assisted Living Facility, Saginaw MI.
