Katherine Jo Bender

Katherine passed away at her home on Friday, September 11, 2026 at the age of 66. The daughter of the late Donald and Elaine (Nelson) Bender was born April 4, 1960 in Bay City, Michigan. Katherine was retired from the Bay City Public Schools as a secretary; she enjoyed crafting with her cats by her side and helping people.

Katherine is survived by her son, John (Kristy) Butler and her daughter, Dayle Butler; one grandson, Anthony Johnson; her best friends, Lin White and Carmen Hartman and several cousins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Scott Bender and Mark Barber.

A celebration of life visitation will take place from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Bay County Humane Society.
