Kenneth married, Carolyn Jo Snable on December 19, 1959, it was the most wonderful day of his life. The second most wonderful day of his life was when his 3 children were born, Rhonda J. (Norm), Jody L. Meylan and Brian K. Smith; grandchildren, Nicholas Quintel and Amanda, Adam and Rose Quintel, Kara Smith, Christina Winchel and Vince, Kylie (Brett) Adcock, Ethan and Zachary; great grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Brook, Jaxon, Baylee, Mariah, Willow and Leah.
Ken started with a little shop in Kawkawlin called Confers Garage. He worked as a mechanic and body shop service man. He joined the Kawkawlin Township Fire Department in 1959, served as the Assistant Fire Chief until 1964 and was then appointed fire chief as the former chief. Pat Confer passed away served as fire chief until 1977 at the time I was hired by Bangor Township as fire chief.
Ken spent many years driving back and forth to Ann Arbor attending fire college and back home each night driving wrecker and operating a body shop, served as president of the Bay County Fire Fighters Association for approximately 5 years and was very instrumental in getting our ambulance service out of the hands of funeral homes and private enterprises. Today we have the best ambulance service and county wide fire and medical service anywhere. Upon retiring from his much-lived fire service Ken and his beautiful wife, Carolyn purchased maxi muffler in standish after a few years they sold the business and purchased a tavern called the Round House Lounge. They sold the business after a few years as Carolyns health and well being was the most important thing in this world to Ken. He would have given his life immediately to keep her pain free and now that he has lost the most important thing in his life, he has his and Carolyns who is at Home with us in heaven enjoying pain free day together forever.
