Smoke passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland at the age of 84. He was born to the late James and Clara (Hamman) Perrou on June 25, 1941 in Bay City. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Catholic Church. He was a big supporter of the Detroit Lion and Tigers. He enjoyed reading, fishing and going to the casino with his son, Brian. You could always find him doing something to stay busy, most of the time he would be in his garage putzing around.
Smoke is survived by his two daughters, Kammie (Raymond) Kennedy and Kellie (Gary) Lippard; two sons, Bradley Perrou and Brian Perrou; five grandchildren, Katie and Patrick Kennedy, Kayla Lyddy and Abigail and Corey Perrou; great grandchildren, Kayleigh and Wyatt Perrou and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Terrase) Perrou; daughter-in-law, Brenda Lyddy; sister, Eileen Ellery; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Lucille Grove and step father, Pat Cummings.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff and nurses at the Niche Aging Center for all their care and compassion throughout this difficult time.
Memorial service for Smoke will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Gephart Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Dale Orlik officiating.
