Laviva May Cabay

Laviva "May" Cabay passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at The Carriage House of Bay City.  Age 89 years.  The daughter of the late John Edward and Florence May (Allen) Gorman was born April 8, 1922 in New Brunswick, Canada.  She retried from Bay City School System as a school bus driver, was a musician,  enjoyed playing the guitar and was a member of an all  girl  country band. She enjoyed caring for her flowers and gardening. She is survived by seven children; Carl Faught, Edward and Joyce Faught, Sharon and Gary Vogel, Jim and Sheryl Faught, Donna and Gene Bauerbach,Mr. and Mrs. Ben Periard and Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Wieland, nineteen grandchildren: Anne Yap, Tina Horne, Bobby Burpee, Stephanie Betzold, Heather Taylor, Jessica and  Joshua Faught, Mark and Kevin Faught, Stacy McKeon, Tiffany Vogel-Boots, Amanda Vogel, Christopher and Justin Faught, Alex and Ian Bauerbach, McKenzie, Mike and Kevin Wieland, nineteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two sisters and one brother-in-law; Kathleen Hickerson, Edith and Milt Winters, one sister-in-law; Mary Gorman, many nieces, nephews and  was reunited with her surviving cousins on a recent trip to Ireland. On June 17, 1966 May married Cecil E. Cabay and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2004.  She was also preceded in death by two sisters; Ellen Bradley and Margaret Kotlewski, two brothers; John and Pat Gorman and her first husband; Carl Don Faught. The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Staff at Carriage House Manor and especially May's great granddaughter; Shellina Marchlewicz for the kind and compassionate care they provided May. Funeral Services will take place Friday, July 29, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Gephart Funeral Home and Cremation Services 201 W. Midland St. Bay City, MI 48706.  Officiating will be Sr. Mary Epple RSM with interment following in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. and until the time of services.  Memorial cards for the Bay City Lions Club will be available at the funeral home.
