Mr. Tanner passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Bay Special Care Hospital at the age of 96 years. The son of the late Hubert and Eva (Teachout) Tanner was born August 10, 1920 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish- Holy Trinity Church. Mr. Tanner retired from GM Powertrain Bay City-Plant. He was a member of the N.R.A.; he was an aircraft pilot since 1946 and enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He is survived by his children, Nina Blackburn; Rebecca Beador and Debra (Robert) Gibbon; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Stephanie L. Tanner; his son, Kim Tanner; his son-in-law; Garth Blackburn; his brother-in-law, Alfonso (Bert) O'Shea and sister-in-law, Eva Kaczmarek; his sister, Betty Neumeyer and his brother, William Tanner. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Monday, September 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Kelm with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 o'clock Noon until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider donations to Corpus Christi Parish.
