Lillian passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living at the age of 94 years. She was born in Bay City on January 22, 1927 to the late Otto and Kunigunde (Ulherr) Koeplin. Lillian was a 1945 graduate of Bay City Central High School and worked as a secretary for the Bay City Board of Education and other various part time jobs. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years and loved to help and serve others. Her compassionate heart led her to put others first. Her faith combined with her inner strength helped her overcome any adversity she faced in her life. Her positive spirit and good nature was a gift to all that knew her. She loved following sports, particularly college basketball and spending time with her family and her friends.
Lillian is survived by her sons, Bruce and Dean Lockwood; niece, Lynn Schindel; nephew, Jim Pettibone and second cousins, Dan Fortsch and Cathy Schuette. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Victor; brother, Bob and cousin, Fred Fortsch.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Erv Hutter with committal and interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 25 visitors in the chapel at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects, face coverings must be worn by non-vaccinated individuals. Mrs. Lockwood will be taken to the church to lie in state on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Sheffield Bay and Rich from American Hospice for the simply outstanding care they gave in her last days.
