Linda passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Symphony Tri-Cities at the age of 69. She was born on June 24, 1956 to Franklin and Shirley Ann (Barton) Salas in Saginaw, Michigan. She found joy in all things crafty, especially scrapbooking, treasured memories, cross-stitching, coloring and journaling. She shared a special bond with her beloved cat, Mittsi, whom she referred to as “The Queen.”
Linda loved the outdoors, especially camping in the woods of Michigan. She found peace among the trees, fresh air, and the simple beauty of nature. She also enjoyed playing cards and for many years, she and her husband, Dave, hosted card nights filled with laughter and companionship before he passed several years ago.
Linda is survived by her mother, Shirley Salas (Tom Schmidt); sisters, Sharlene (Kevin) Bourdon, Pam (Mike) Huston, Patti Kolb, Natalie (Emilio) Serrato and Janice Salas; sister-in-law’s, Yvonne (Ed) Bird, Jeanne Gillisse, Joanne (Scott) Parent and Anna (Phil) Boman; brother-in-law’s, Wally (Lisa) Nowak and Joe (Tracey) Nowak and stepdaughter, Mellissa (Bobby) Stiles. Linda is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Nowak; father, Franklin Salas; brother-in-law’s, Richard Kolb and Robert Gillisse and stepson, Nick Nowak.
Memorial service for Linda will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Carmen Cook. The family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s name to the PBS Foundation.
