Lorraine Genevieve Cygan

Lorraine Genevieve Cygan, aged 89, from Bay City, Michigan passed away suddenly May 13, 2021 after a short illness.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Alice (Buechler) and Eugene Cygan on December 4, 1931, and resided in the Bay City area most of her life.  She attended Central High School and earned her diploma from John Glenn later in life.
Lorraine held many jobs over the years and spoke most often of her years as manager of the Westown Theater, and as Administrative Assistant at the Bay City State Police Post.  During her retirement she kept busy providing samples to customers at the Wilder Road Meijer.
Lorraine remained physically strong and spry to the end.  During her prime she enjoyed volunteering with the Bay City Players and spent her personal time drawing, painting, sewing, and stitching embroidery.  Her wry sense of humor kept everyone on their toes, even during her decline into dementia.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, brother Gene Cygan, brother-in-law William Shook, lifelong friend Shirley VanTol, one uncle, and several beloved aunts, "All together girls...".
Her life will continue to be celebrated by her closest sister, Betty Shook; younger siblings Jerry (Mary) Sarnowski, Carol (Mike) Warwin, of Jacksonville, FL; Rick Sarnowski; and Sister-in-law Marge Cygan.  She is also survived by special nieces Alice Shook, Alicia Sarnowski and several other nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by neighbor and friend Bertha Dotson as well.
As per Lorraine's wishes, cremation has already taken place and there will be no visitation or services.  Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Nottingham Place Memory Care and Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland for care they provided during the days and months of her life.
