Arnold, Mabel C. (Deering), beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully December 30, 2012. Mabel was born November 22, 1918 in Pigeon to the late Conrad and Mollie Deering. Mabel married Edgar C. Arnold in Detroit February 22, 1940. Mabel was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She will be remembered as a talented cook starting in the Bay City Schools and eventually retiring from Monitor Sugar Company after 29 years. Mabel loved to bake cookies and candy for her friends, family and grandchildren. Mabel was an avid gardener who by Fall had canned everything in sight. She could knit, play cards, water exercise and enjoyed the family cabin "Suits Us Arnolds" . Surviving the loss of Mabel are her four children: Barbara (Michael) McMann of Kalamazoo: Tudi (Ted) Sprague of Big Canoe GA: Gene (Ann) Arnold, and Timothy Arnold of Bay City; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Mabel is slso survived by a brother and five sisters Harold (Shirley) Deering, Leona (Al) Gorleski: Alice Glasgow: Margaret Goslin; Elaine (Herb) Neurath: and Dorothy (Norman) Hensel. A special cousin Laura Davis of Saginaw also survives Mabel's passing. Mabel was predeceased by her husband Edgar C. Arnold, a brother William Deering and a son Thomas Lee Arnold in 1987. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, January 3, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. John W. Wernecke with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Arnold will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services.
