Marie S. Piotrowski

Piotrowski, Marie Sophia (Knoerr)
Bay City, Turner and Tawas, Michigan
December 20, 1936 - May 21, 2022
Marie was born to the late Walter and Ida (Feinauer) Knoerr the third of seven children. She was raised in the Lutheran faith and growing up she was taught a good work ethic, to care and respect for others, to have integrity and always be honest. Her mother also passed on the lesson to "find the humor".
As a young woman Marie enjoyed playing softball, listening to music by Elvis and polkas, and dancing. She worked on the farm and at Lufkin Rule.
On December 22, 1956, she married Gene I. Piotrowski (predeceased December 24, 1995) and had two children Paul and Jean. They raised their family in Bay City before moving to Turner, Michigan. Marie and Gene once had the title of "Polka King and Queen" and can now dance together again. Marie coached softball for many years and assisted Paul with soap box derby cars. She enjoyed playing Eucher and games, being outside, volunteering and took pride in the 'berm' at church at her associate church St. John Lutheran, Au Gres. She had a great ability to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Marie always cared about others, wanting to make the world a better place to live in for future generations, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Always being an astute student, she became a leader in many roles. In politics, as a former Frankenlust Township Supervisor and Assessor (Level 3) and moving onto work in assessing for various other townships. In owning and operating, Clean Future Recycling as well as her Mary Kay business. Marie always strived to do her best. She daily has a written "to do" list and was ready early every morning to start crossing it off. She also loved reading books to better herself and her health.
Unfortunately, in summer of 2020, she was diagnosed with PSP. It progressed quickly, but her determination and faith remained strong.
Marie will be remembered by many, especially her daughter, Jean (David) Marx; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Matt) Jones, Michelle (Marc) Dixon and Sarah Marx; her great grandchildren, Leslie and Taylor Jones and Evelina Dixon; her siblings, Hilda Ponichtera, Gil (Connie) Knoerr; her brother-in-law, Chuck Adamek and many nieces and nephews.
She will be welcomed in heaven by her husband, Gene; son, Paul and grandson, Thomas M. Marx II. She is also reunited with her parents, siblings and in-laws, Roy (Jackie), Ruth, Norma (Fred), and Lymon Knoerr. Also, in-laws, Germain, Fred, Virgil, Marion, Floyd and Jack Piotrowski, Henrietta Wojewods and Rita Gillard. It will be a heavenly celebration.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the love and care extended to Marie by the Colonnades Assisted Living and Amara Hospice.
