Marjorie "Margie" E. Carland

Margie passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 90. The daughter of the late Franklin and Louise (Murdock) Shepherd was born November 30, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan. Margie was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and had a love of music. She enjoyed volunteering at the 4H and the wildlife rescue at the Bay City State Park, Margie was also a member of the Elks Club, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Great Lakes Power Squadron.

Margie is survived by her children, Charles (Kimberly) Carland, Catherine “Kit” (Larry) Hoffman and Christopher (Marla) Carland; grandchildren, Andrea and Charlie, Jeff (Shelley) and Jake, Chelsea and Joseph, Michael (Jessica) and Tommy (Heather) and Julie and Larry Jr.; great grandchildren, Caylyn, Amaia, Briella, Kyley, Ayden, Gavin and Eliza; great great granddaughters, Emi and Sayuri; sister, Katherine Schlaack; nieces and nephews, Ted, Cindy, Mike (Pat), Susie and Suki. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carland; brother, James Shephard; brother-in-law, Lary and her nephew, Jeff.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Sue Rich with entombment following in Trinity Episcopal Church Columbarium. Visitation will take place at the Church on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
