Mrs. Douglas passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Bay City Comfort Care at the age of 78. The daughter of the late Phillip and Alma (Lent) Smith was born October 11, 1943 in Bay County, Michigan. Mrs. Douglas was a Girl Scout leader, owned her own cleaning service and was very active in the community.
Katie is survived by her three children, Roger (Sara) Sack, Amy Douglas and her significant other, Vincent Campbell and Jeanette Douglas; four grandchildren, Paul Douglas, Lacia (Troy) Sack-Bennett, David (Kayla) Sack and Rachael Sack; eight great grandchildren, Lucas, Tori and Clifford Bennett and Blake, Zaven, Elleonna, Aubrey and Gabriella Sack; brothers and sisters, Marilyn (Dennis) VanHartisvelt, Margaret (William) Slates, Harvey (Linda) Smith, Phillip (Barb) Smith and Charles James Smith; two brothers-in-law, Stewart (Cheryl) Douglas and Albert Douglas; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Pete" Douglas whom she married on May 28, 1966; sister, Martha Bignell and her two brothers, David and Isaac Smith.
Funeral and Committal services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Roger D. Sack. Private inurnment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery at a later date. Friends and family may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family.
