Mary Hope Minnis

Mary passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Bay County Medical Care Facility with her family by her side at the age of 90. She was born August 30, 1931 to the late Andrew and Grace (Carpenter) Dietzler in Midland, Michigan. Mary was a devout catholic who enjoyed her church and praying for her family and friends. She loved being a Registered Nurse and was very loving and caring toward other people. Mary enjoyed reading mystery and romance novels, sewing, gardening, listening to music and visiting the Great Lakes and the many lighthouses on their shores.  When Mary was young, she often took the ferries from Ludington to Wisconsin with her father. Ludington held a special place in her heart and she forever treasured going with her children--climbing the dunes, picnicking, swimming in Lake Michigan and watching the sunsets.  Mary especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her seven children, Mary Anne (Carl Jr.) Strickland, Nancy (Fred) Grimmer, Jeannine Tissington, Cathy (Jack Jr.) Acker, Sally (Dennis) Knowlton, Joseph (Linda) Minnis and Amy (Jeff) Schuth; sixteen grandchildren, Carl III (Dianna) Strickland, David Strickland, Jessica Schlegel, Brynn (Michael) Fleming, Nicholas (Michelle) Schlegel, Erik (Christine) Grimmer, Matthew (Gail) Grimmer, Jay (Tina) Grimmer, Lisa (Nick) Velarde, Matthew (Stephanie) Carroll, Steve (Jodi) Duby, Catey Knowlton, Jennifer Minnis, Christopher Minnis, Jeff Schuth and Emilie (James) Buckley; twenty-one great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Helen Super, AJ "Jack" (Diana) Dietzler, Ruth (Thomas) Glasgow, Margaret Dietzler and Karana (Patrick) Lujan; special friend, Joyce Babcock and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband Beryl and several beloved in-laws. Her strength and presence will be missed by all.

The family would like to give the staff at the Bay County Medical Care Facility a special thank you for the compassionate care they provided Mary during her final years.
