Mary T. Gromaski, born on June 17, 1931, in Essexville, Michigan, departed this life on April 12, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan with her family by her side at the age of 93. A devoted individual, Mary lived her life with an unwavering commitment to her faith and community.
Throughout her life, Mary enriched the lives of many through her work as a Eucharistic Minister for Visitation Church and her many years dedicated to teaching Catechism. Her service reflected her deep faith and her desire to share the teachings she cherished. Mary was known for her generous spirit and infectious warmth, always welcoming family, friends, and neighbors to her home, particularly during her memorable Christmas parties. She had a big heart, and her home was often filled with laughter and the joy of gathering together. Her interests included gardening, cooking, reading the Bible, dancing the polka, and, above all else, spending time with her family, which she treasured immensely. She will be fondly remembered for her nurturing nature and the love she gave freely to those around her.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Robert (Mary) Nagy, Roger (Vickie) Nagy, Mary Jo (Kim) Pilditch, Michelle (James Thume) Oberle, Bobbie Bragg, and Becky Schumacher; her grandchildren, Andrew (Katie), Allison, Stephanie, Jason, Chad (Martha), Nicole, Robert, Tracy (Matt), Tiffiny, Katie (Scott), Kayla (Ryan); along with many great-grandchildren and in-laws. She is also survived by her special friends, Dave and Pam Simon, and her siblings, Helen, Lottie, Carol, and Wally. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ludvina (Kessler) Gromaski, her husband, Robert Nagy, with whom she shared 35 years; husband, Robert Heinz, with whom she spent 27 years; as well as her siblings, Donald, Dorothy, Ben, and Joanie.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church, (607 East South Union Street). Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home (201 West Midland Street) with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to wishes of the family.
Mary's legacy of love, devotion, and generosity will forever be cherished by all who knew her. She leaves behind a profound impact on her family and community, one that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
