Mary J. Sharpe

Mary passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Stratford Assisted Living with her family by her side at the age of 99. She was born October 14, 1925 to the late Ernest and Minnie (Rose) O’Berg in Essexville, Michigan. Mary was a member of the Red Hat Society for over 15 years. she was also a lifelong member of Essexville Community Church. she enjoyed ice skating, participating in the senior Olympics, volunteering at the Bay City Fireworks, going to the casino and playing bingo.

Mary is survived by her two children, Dawn (Thomas) Laracey, and Shelley (Terrence) Cooper; four grandchildren Charity (Randall) Owen, Ashley (Troy) Schumacher, Kyle Laracey, and Annabella (Cole) Tetreau. Two step grandchildren, five great grandchildren daughter-in-law, Mary Sharpe, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sharpe, son, Thomas Sharpe; three sisters and brother.

Funeral and Committal Services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Doug with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to wishes of the family.
