Mrs. Maxine Engelhardt passed away peacefully with her Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at New Hope Valley Independent Living in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 97 years. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Charlotte (Dinse) Steinbauer. Maxine was born August 29, 1924 in Bay City, Michigan. She graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1942. She married James C. Engelhardt on January 12, 1946. He preceded her in death in July, 2011 after they shared 65 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sanford and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bay City. Maxine enjoyed playing cards, reading, and especially spending time with her family and friends.
Maxine is survived by her three sons and their spouses, James (Marsha) Engelhardt, Freeland; Daniel (Jill) Engelhardt, West Branch; Steven (Traci) Engelhardt, Tawas; four grandchildren; Brian (Mandy) Engelhardt, Matthew (Katie) Engelhardt, Adriana Engelhardt and Jordan Engelhardt; five great grandchildren; Ethan and Evan Engelhardt, Collin and Carley Engelhardt and Haily Fennell; three step grandchildren; Parker (Sarah) Eisengruber, Jordan Eisengruber and Grant Eisengruber and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband she was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Iris (Emil) Kraut, mother and father-in-law, John and Anna Engelhardt; three brothers-in-law and their spouses; William (Edith) Engelhardt, Walter (Olive) Engelhardt, John (Francis) Engelhardt; one sister-in-law and her husband; Gertrude (August) Behmlander.
Funeral and Committal services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc., 201 W. Midland St., Bay City, MI  48706. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Vossler. A luncheon will follow. Private interment will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sanford, the American Heart Association or a charity of their choice.
