Meta (Mayme) F. Trombley

Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away early Saturday morning, February 23, 2013 at Huron Woods Nursing Home. Age 94 years, she died peacefully with her family at her side. On September 6, 1918 in Hemlock, Michigan, Mayme was born to Albert and Rosalie (Bork) Roggow where she grew up with 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Ladies Guild and the Altar Guild. Mayme was active with the Zion Prayer Chain, visited the shut-ins and was a confirmation prayer partner. Mayme also contributed in countless ways to the operations at Zion Lutheran School and assisted in their religious education program. Mayme was an excellent baker, cook, and gardener as well as an avid bowler, golfer, and card partner. She loved her Lord, her family, her friends and God's planet and took great care to show it. Mayme is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; Debra and Gary Jankens of Bay City and Beth Trombley-Wojan of East Lansing, four grandchildren; Joshua and Adrienne (Baker) Jankens, Kyle Jankens and fiancée Katie, Allie Jankens and Amanda Wojan, four great grandchildren, Jordan, Kari and Logan Jankens and Keagan Diebold, one brother and sister-in-law; Carl and Irmie Roggow and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; George Trombley, her parents; Albert and Rosalie (Bork) Roggow, her sisters and brothers; Clara Endline, Eric Roggow, Esther Vogtmann, Ella Thornton, Fred Roggow, Emil Roggow, Hilda Roggow and many sisters and brothers-in-law. Mayme's children and grandchildren are grateful to God for her gifts of faith, love, support, baked goodies and caring; to her many family members and friends for their laughter and fond memories, and to Sheffield Bay and Huron Woods for loving Mom and taking such great care of her in her final years. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church 510 W. Ivy St. Bay City, MI 48706. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to receive visitors. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Zion Lutheran Church or Valley Lutheran High School.
