Mike passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 72. The son of the late George and Mary (Bradley) Howay was born on March 15, 1949 in Pigeon, Michigan. Mike was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the guitar and playing sports with his grandchildren. He was a professional grandpa that loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them for rides on his backhoe.
Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marion Howay; eight children, Crystal (Jon) Cutting, Michael Carrier, Michelle (Jeff) Crisp, Tammy (Ron) Gerard, Clint (Raenelle) Howay, Rebecca (Mike) Mead, Kathleen (Larry) Thompson and Ryan (Amy) Howay; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three sisters and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Howay.
Funeral service for all who would like to attend will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Peoples Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel Hester with Committal following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 25 visitors at the funeral home at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects. Memorial cards for the wishes of the family will be available at the funeral home.
