Michael Kaczan

Michael passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at West Branch Regional Medical Center at the age of 65. The son of the late Alexander and Mary (Sigler) Kaczan was born November 21, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. Michael received his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He was retired as a quality manager from S.C. Johnson-Diversey. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Bay City, and served on the church council for one term. Michael was the president of the Heather Ridge Condo Association, was a member of the Frankenlust Township Planning Commission, and was a volunteer at his grandchildren's school. Michael lived every minute of his life to the fullest, especially enjoying boating, snowmobiling, snorkeling, fishing, waterskiing, hunting, hiking, snowshoeing, and any other excuse to spend time with his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. (Walsh) Creager, whom he married May 21, 2011; his children, Jennifer (Rob) Shaul and Kevin (Kristy) Kaczan; his stepdaughter, Lizzy (Mike Pirkola) Creager; his grandchildren, Lexi, Sophia and Nolan Shaul; his siblings, Carol (Fred) Napier, Susan Young, Kathleen Kaczan and Elizabeth Kaczan; his sister-in-law, Cheryl Kaczan; and Kathy Manners, the mother of his children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Kaczan, and his sister, Marion Kaczan.
A memorial service will take place Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, Bay City. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas Teich. The family will be present at the church to receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
