Mildred C. Volk

Volk, Mildred C. Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Mildred (Millie) C. Volk, age 73, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday evening, April 19, 2016 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. The daughter of the late Albert and Electa (Schaefer) Rivard, she was born on March 26, 1943 in Bay City. Millie enjoyed spending time with family, and also enjoyed reading, working puzzles, watching movies, and going on scenic drives. She was married to James J. Volk, Sr., in 1961, and he preceded her in death. Millie is survived by her children Cindy (Nick) Johnson, Carl ( Donna) Volk, Michael (Jodi) Volk, and Mark (Melinda) Volk; her grandchildren, Niquolae Johnson (Stephanie Henne), Casey Johnson, Hannah Johnson (Garrett Nuncio), and Emma Johnson, Jennifer Gorman, Joshua, Matthew, Sarahlynn, and Tyler Volk, Gerritt and Kinnon Kurtycz; her great-grandchildren, Roman and Arianna Johnson, and due in May, Ashton Nuncio; her brother, Thomas Rivard; her sister, Lec Oswald; and several nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by a son,James J. Volk Jr., four brothers, Donald, Albert, Eugene, and Richard Rivard, and a sister, Loretta Naert. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at Courtney Manor that cared for Millie. She fondly referred to it as her "Vacation Home". The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. On Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Offficiating will be Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDden, with interment following at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
