Nancy touched the lives of those around her with her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. Despite facing the challenges of her illness, she remained a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.
Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds, touching the hearts of family and friends. Nancy’s legacy of love and kindness will be cherished by all who had the privilege of sharing in her journey.
Nancy was born on December 2, 1946 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Henry and Mary Van Antwerpen. She graduated from Union High School and attended Grand Rapids Community College. Soon after she met the love of her life, Terry Sheehan. They were married on October 26, 1968. They spent their 54 years of marriage living throughout Michigan in several different state parks where Terry was the manager before settling in Bay City. In retirement, they enjoyed traveling the United States and wintering in Florida.
Nancy was preceded in death by Terry and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha and James Smelker. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law Molly and Carl Reinhardt. Her granddaughters, Sophia and Anna Reinhardt, were the light of her life. Her son, Patrick Sheehan, and her granddog, Sheamus, brought her much joy and amusement. Her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Homer Teitsma, and brother-in-law, Marc Sheehan, along with his fiancé, Sue Silverman, and her many special friends offered much love and support during her fight.
In accordance with her wishes, Nancy has been cremated, and the family will hold a celebration of life for both her and Terry at a later date. Please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
