Norman T. "Norm" Barber Sr.

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Norman T. Barber Sr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 87. The son of the late Jay and Ethel (Nelson) Barber was born June 19, 1939 in Rose City, MI. Norm started his career at St. Laurent Brothers in Bay City –“The Nut House” and then went on to work for Made Rite Potato Chip Company for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Norm, above all else, was a devoted family man. His best days were spent with family by his side. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his son Norm, traveling and making memories with his wife Emma, making stone bird houses for family and friends, and taking road trips getting “lost” in the woods or by a stream.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, the former Emma I. Stevens whom he married June 26, 1959; his children, Brenda (Glenn) Sinicki, Bonnie Robbins, Norman T. Barber Jr. and Marie (Thomas) Barba; his grandchildren, Brooke (Eric) Biskner, Chad (Carrie) Sinicki, Eric Alarie, Caitlin Alarie and Josh (Shelbie) Martinski; his great grandchildren, McKenzie, Adriana, Alyssa, Jaycee, Jillian, Carter and Isabella. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Joseph Robbins; his great-grandson, Alexander Garcia; 5 brothers and 3 sisters; his good friend, Jack Stockwell. The family would like to thank Transitions Hospice for the kind and compassionate care he received during his time of need.

At the request of Norm, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life led by his grandson, Josh Martinski will take place Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. The family will be present at the funeral home on Tuesday to receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in his memory be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library or Transitions Hospice of Bay City.
