Patricia R. Casey

Our lovely Mom, Patricia R. Casey age 93 of Bay City, Michigan died peacefully on December 15th 2022 at Symphony Tri-Cities Nursing Home.
Mom was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1929 in Bay City, MI. She was one of eight children, three sisters and four brothers, and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School.
As a child, she loved tap dancing with her Dad and making cookies with her Mom. She fondly remembered her Mom and Dad singing together often, as we remember our Mom singing while doing the dishes. She shared with us a memorable time in her young life was when she was chosen at eight years old to crown the Blessed Virgin Mary statue during the May Crowning Ceremony.
At age 19, Mom met the love of her life, our Dad, Bernard R. Casey (Barney) at a dance in Frankenmuth, shortly after he came home from serving in WWII. They were married the following year on August 27, 1949. Pat was 20 and Barney was 32. Their relationship was the kind we all hope to share with someone. They were inseparable and completely devoted to each other. They raised four children together and lived a simple but meaningful life. One of their yearly family highlights was a weeks' vacation in the summer to Tawas Bay Michigan. Our Mom enjoyed canning pears and making cherry pies from the fruit trees in our backyard. We loved Moms special Sunday meals, delicious chocolate chip cookies, and always looked forward to making our annual Christmas cut outs together.
She loved watching musicals, reading romance novels and was known for her infectious laugh. A neighbor once said he could hear our Mom's laughter many summer nights as she watched Johnny Carson. Our Mom valued family and faith above everything else, and always said her most wonderful time in life was getting married and spending time with us four kids.
Our Mom stayed at home until her youngest child was in grade school then worked part time at J.C. Penney's for 27 years. Mom and Dad were married for 43 years before he died. There was never a thought or desire for another companion and she lived in the home they purchased together for 66 years. Mom had a true love for children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered for her quiet strength, her calming always positive advice and the good words she had to say about everyone.
She is survived by two sons: James Casey, wife Katherine and Kevin Casey, wife Martha; two daughters: Cathy Geiersbach, husband Robert, Janet Lazur, husband Jack; nine grandchildren: Chad Geiersbach, wife Stacy, Lisa Ver Meulen, husband James, Aubrey Lazur, Blake Lazur, Kevin Casey, wife Melissa, Michanna Casey, James Casey, wife Danielle, Nicholas Dabrowski, wife Melissa, Kelly Palm; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Noonan. Pat was preceded in death by four brothers; Nelson Pelletier Jr., William Pelletier, Louis Pelletier and John Pelletier; two sisters; Elizabeth Pelletier and Eleanor Pelletier.
