Richard "Dick" David Bender

Richard passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Bayfield Assisted Living with his family by his side at the age of 89. He was born in Bay City, Michigan to the late David and Ella (Dowd) Bender on October 4, 1931. Dick was a member of Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, square dancing, traveling, Dick has spent 28 winters in Texas before moving back to Bay City. Most of all he was devoted to his wife of 64 years; Dorothy.

Richard is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Brentford (Laura) Bender, Ann (Ken) Roznowski, Laura Bender, Diane Bender and Jennifer (Ed) Zielinski; grandchildren, David (Mandy) Bender, Adam (Christine) Bender, Michael (Valerie) Bender, Amy (Matthew) Ykimoff, Steven (Beth) Roznowski,  Brian (Kristi)  Roznowski, Kyle Roznowski, Edward Zielinski, Benjamen Zielinski; great grandchildren, Ishmael , Izabelle and Delilah Bender, Trinity, Silas and Justice Bender, Noah and William Ykimoff, Gabriel, Gianna, Isaac and Clara Roznowski and Riley Roznowski; in-laws, Elaine Bender, Alvis (Nancy) Torno, Geri Torno and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Richard is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Bender and Gerald Bender.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bayfield Assisted Living for the loving care that they provided Richard.

Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. On July 10, 2021 at Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Killinger. Inurnment and military honors will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
