Richard E. Brooks Sr. "Dick" Bay City, Michigan Mr. Brooks opened his arms and returned to our Lord the morning of October 5, 2015 surrounded by his family in Essexville, Michigan. Age of 77. He was born April 25, 1938 in Bay City where he resided for many years. Dick graduated from T.L. Handy as the class President, he kept in touch with many of his classmates over the years and spent many hours organizing the class reunions. He proudly served his country in the United Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He continued on with his education receiving a business degree from Delta College. Dick started his career working at Graphic Metals and was the founder and owner of The Store Room in Bay City. In his free time he enjoyed sailing, playing tennis, basketball and especially had a great love for his dogs which he occasionally took to shows. He shared six loving children with the late Bernice Brooks-Chunn and they are left behind to share his memories, Gordon (Insun) Brooks of Kawkawlin, Tsu Brooks of Bay City, Sandra (Keith) Sharrard of Essexville, Phillip Brooks of Bay City and Patricia Wohlfiel of Orlando, FL, 10 grandchildren; Rebecca Kunz, Edwin (Kristin) Brooks, Jason (Buffy) Brooks, Anthony (Jessica) Brooks, Thomas Brooks, Shawna Brooks, Sarah, Samantha and Summer Sharrard and Ian Wohlfeil, 11 great grandchildren, two brothers; Robert (Linda) Brooks and Peter (Lynette) Brooks and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; Edwin L. Brooks, his mother; Ruth Englund and his oldest son and daughter-in-law; Richard E. (Joanne) Brooks Jr. Funeral Services will take place Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be his best friend Rev. James E. Chilton with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. The family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service to receive visitors.
