Richard C. Helmreich

Our loving husband and father passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Covenant Cooper after a brief courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. Richard was born September 15, 1963 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a true outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. Richard loved animals, cooking, gardening, working in his yard and being outdoors.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marcia “Babe”; his two children that he loved, Dan Helmreich and Katie Helmreich; his mother, Julia Helmreich and her partner, Jim Reou; mother-in-law, Joan (Ted) Dietz; sister, Sheila (Dennis) Hempsted; sisters-in-law, Michelle (Larry) Campau, Melissa (Jon) Bellinger and Trisha (Aaron) Case; brother-in-law, Jon (Mary) Dietz and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Carl W. Helmreich; brother, Carl W. Helmreich Jr.; father-in-law, Raymond Cunningham and his brother-in-law, David Cunningham.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Covenant Health Care for their compassion and care.

Funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Kurt Brandon. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy, may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family.
