Pembroke, Richard Earl of Bay City, Michigan passed away Wednesday morning November 9, 2011 at Bay Medical Center. Age 82 years. The son of the late Mildred Erickson Pembroke and Earl (Donalda) Pembroke was born on February 10, 1929 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served with the United States Army. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Bev, bowling and spending time at his summer retreat up north. Dick was formerly employed at Mel Smith Lincoln Mercury and Triple R Trucking as a mechanic. On July 25, 1953 he married the former Beverly Jean Zessin and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2003 and he was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law; Robert Zessin. Mr. Pembroke is survived by one sister-in-law; Donna (Wayne) Tomkins of Tawas and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff CCICU and ICU at Bay Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care that was given to Mr. Pembroke and as well as a heartfelt thank you to Dr. "Bob" Hafford. A special thanks also goes to the gang at Niko's and to Bo and Bailey (Henry Rabish and John Aguilar) for all of the good times there. Alex, make John buy, it's his turn to pay this time. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. John W. Wernecke with private inurnment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m.. Mr. Pembroke will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association will be available at the funeral home
