Richard "Rick" A. Metevia

Following a much loved and enjoyable weekend of deer hunting at the camp with his family (Come On!), our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 at his home following a lengthy illness. Age 70 years. The son of the late Thomas D. Metevia and Loretta T. (Zacharias) Metevia, Rick was born November 12, 1955 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was formerly married to Cheryl King. He graduated from St. Stephen Area High School in 1973 and earned his Associates Degree from Delta College. Rick was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for several years but his career primarily centered around being a corrections officer for the State of Michigan Department of Corrections. He served as a corrections officer at the Lapeer Correctional Facility and the Standish Correctional Facility. He retired from the Freeland Correctional Facility following many years of service. He was awarded the Valor Award for life saving actions while serving as a corrections officer. Rick was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed deer hunting, playing baseball, hunting for “treasures”, grilling with family and friends, going to the casino and spending time out-of-doors. Most of all, he loved being around his family, especially his children and grandchildren. His legacy of humor, generosity and selflessness will live on in his family and friends.

Surviving are three daughters, Stacy and Terry Foco, with whom he made his home in Standish; Stephanie and Jeremy Boggs, Bay City; Sammie Jo Metevia and William Sutter, Sanford; seven grandchildren, Payton, Tyler, Caleb, Chase, Titan, Emma and Urijah; three sisters and three brothers, Sharon and Brandt Driscoll, Barry and Peggy Metevia, Barbara and Devendra Sharma, Susan and Dave Heath, William Metevia, Paul and Jennifer Metevia; many nieces and nephews; also surviving are many dear friends including Debbie Dauer and her mother, Norma Dauer and Randy (Rusty) Cook. Rick was preceded in death by a dear and caring friend and companion, Dawn Kipfmiller.

Honoring Rick’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time.
