Richard Joseph Schweiss "Dick"

Richard Joseph Schweiss (Dick) of Bay City, MI passed away after a brief illness, at the age of 90, on Friday, September 16, 2022.  He was surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born in Parchment, MI on November 6, 1931. He was in the Navy and served on a destroyer during the Korean War for 4 years. He was a graduate of Michigan State and was a lifelong Spartans fan. He also loved his Detroit Tigers! He worked for Consumers Power for 35 years and was an active member of Grace Church West.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie. They were joyfully married for 66 years. They had 6 children:  Tom Schweiss (Carolyn), Mike Schweiss (Kim), Kathy Rewers (Tony), Ann Garfinkel (Jeff), Barb DesRosiers (Marc, deceased) and Mary Ann (deceased).  He had 9 grandchildren:  Anthony, Allison, Maria, Matthew, Luke, Valerie, Flora, Zachary and Julia.
Dick was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting and golfing throughout his life.  He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and a fantastic friend to all who knew him.  He was blessed with good health and the ability to do what he loved until his last days.
A celebration of his life is being held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
