Southwell, Richard Allen of Bay City, Michigan passed away suddenly Wednesday morning November 2, 2011 at Bay Regional Medical Center. Age 80 years. He was born May 18, 1931 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Dick was an active member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, it's ushers club and was active with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 88, was active in many organizations, retired from General Motors Co. - Nodular Iron in Saginaw, MI and served with the United States Navy. Mr. Southwell had a love for all sports, he enjoyed coaching baseball and basketball and had a great passion for Golf and was a ranger at Maple Leaf Golf Course. He is survived by his wife of thirty years Mary Lou Southwell whom he married on September 4, 1981 by Rev. Fr. George J. Serour in Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church .Richard is also survived by three children; Denise and Don Przybyszewski, Rick and Karen Southwell and Paul and Colleen Southwell, two step children; Kim and Rick Gerard and Kevin and Jan Miller all of Bay City, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Southwell was preceded in death by his wife; Ardalla (Pilon) Southwell, one son; Bryan Southwell, parents; Phillip and Louise (LeGasse) Southwell and two brothers; William and Phillip Southwell. The Funeral Liturgy and the Rite of Committal will take place Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church 1106 State St. Bay City, Michigan 48706. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. George J. Serour with private Entombment in Chapel Hill Mausoleum in Freeland, MI. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Southwell will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church or the donor's favorite charity will be available at the funeral home.
